Hi Carol,

Welcome to the forum!
I have Bakers cysts in both knees, very painful at times. Do you mean yours has burst and drained into your foot?
Hope it settles down for you soon.

Well, that will be all of us then!!!!RollEyes

Hi Carol

Welcome to the forum, glad you have joined us but sorry to hear that you are a long suffering devotee of RA, like me!! You will meet lots of friendly folk with plenty of useful information and help along the way.

I am Lyn, married to Mike with four children in various stages of education (one about to change her mind I fear!). We live in Lancashire. I was diagnosed with sero-negative RA 22 years ago after the birth of my first child. Since then I feel as though I have run the gamut of medications and a number of surgical procedures. I am currently on Enbrel, Prednisolone, Naproxen and a few other bits and pieces to keep things ticking over. Have just been taken off methotrexate (wiped out my neutrophil count) so waiting to see what happens next!! Fun isn't it?!

But no point worrying, we've got it ... so let's make the most of it! You will most definitely make lots of new friends Smile . Look forward to getting to know you,

Lyn x

Hi Carol,
Welocme to the forum, I'm Sheila, have RA getting on for 3 years now and am on much the same medication as you, i.e Rituximab, Methrotrexate prednisolone, paracetamol (yes also take loads of it to combat the shivers) plus a few other bits and pieces. Have also got bakers cysts and have had experience of a burst but into the calf not my foot. They are also a nuisance as lots of trousers no longer fit around my knees and the cysts stop the knees bending much,
Have found the forum a great place for advice and help and to know what others of experiencing. Am trying really hard to reduce the prednisolone but its hard.
Hoping that your foot improves soon.
With all best wishes
Sheila

Hi Carol,

Welcome to the forum!

Great bunch of folks here all understand what effect RA has. I've had RA since I was 26, but am currently well controlled with Enbrel.

Happy posting :)

best wishes

Hi Carol

I posted my welcome earlier but since then remembered that I forgot to mention your knee problem! (Went off to find a link and forgot to come back LOL )

I am currently awaiting surgery for this very same problem. Both knees are affected but they are operating on the left one first as this is the most swollen. The leaking fluid does tend to run down into my leg causing pain, tenderness and swelling but hasn't yet got as far as my foot thankfully! Have you received any treatment for this? The normal course of action is drainage of the excess fluid from the knee followed by a cortisone injection into the joint. I have previously had a synovectomy on this knee which lasted a good few years before recurring. Medicine.net have a good article about this problem.

Your foot should improve very quickly once the problem with the knee is resolved. It certainly sounds as though you need some urgent medical intervention as there is a risk of infection with the build up of fluids. Hope you are able to get some relief very soon.

Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.

Hi Carol

Am a newbie to the site too, but not to RA. Have been suffering from this condition for about 13 years now. Am sero negative so diagnosis was a problem until synvectomy on both knees. Methotrexate worked for some time but a flare up means I am looking for an additional drug to boost the Methotrexate.

I have already found the site most kind and welcoming and very knowledgeable. I am certain this will be a great help to you too.

Love

Katharine

Hi Carol Smile

My name's Hannah, I'm 16 and was diagnosed with RA in 2008. Live at home with my Mum, Dad and younger brother Ruben.
Currently doing GCSEs!
I'm on Methotrexate and Embrel. Had a long stretch of about 7 months where I was almost back to normality but joints have been playing up again for the past 3/4 months.
Welcome to the forum Smile I hope you find all the support you need here, everyone's very friendly and their advice is always uplifting when you're feeling rubbish and want a good moan.
